The Jigsaw Trust is a registered Charity set up in 1999 by a group of parents of children with autism.
The Jigsaw Trust opened Jigsaw CABAS® School in September 1999 as an independent day school for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorders. It is one of a few schools in the UK offering a structured programme of intensive intervention based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
Since June 2003 the School has been a certified CABAS® School and has provision for up to 60 pupils from 4-19 years of age.
There are two full time Occupational Therapists and two full time Speech and Language Therapists at Jigsaw who work closely together and in collaboration with educational staff, other professionals and families to provide holistic approach to interventions. Therapy targets are integrated into the school day and embedded within each pupil’s individualised curriculum.
Each pupil receives a core therapy provision from speech and language therapy and occupational therapy both directly and indirectly, including therapy recommendations for class programmes, in-class support and direct group therapy. Therapists carry out ongoing assessments to contribute to the pupils’ Individual Curriculum and Educational Plans and annual and termly reports. Courses of individual therapy sessions can be offered dependent upon individual, specific need and therapists’ clinical judgement.
Jigsaw Trust now has a specialist provision for individuals aged 18 and above through Jigsaw+ Adult Services. Based at the Jigsaw+ Centre for Lifelong Learning on Dunsfold Park, this provision offers ongoing educational, vocational and wellbeing services in safe, autism friendly working and learning environments.
